Learn About CBD

WHAT IS CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabinoid that comes from the Hemp plant that helps your body produce more endogenous cannabinoids. CBD does not cause any psychoactive effects. CBD combined with our proprietary terpenes are more effectively absorbed as certain terpenes/essential oils also work with the CB1 and CB2 receptors in our brains and bodies. Our CBD is derived from all organic, pesticide free, Non-GMO hemp grown in the USA. It is third party lab tested to guarantee no heavy metals and other harmful substances. cbd-thc-infographic-final.png

WHAT IS CBD ISOLATE?

One of the most common CBD is CBD Isolate in its purest form. It’s exactly how it sounds— an isolated form of cannabidiol. During the extraction process, everything is removed or filtered out of the hemp plant except for cannabidiol. This leaves you with a pure CBD product. CBD LION provides many types of products such as gummies, tinctures, lotions, roll on, bath bombs made with CBD Isolate

CBD isolates should be free of harmful additives, contaminants, and heavy metals. Isolates also don’t typically contain terpenes, however, some companies, like CBD LION have terpenes added back into a CBD isolate product. CBD isolates should be free of any other cannabinoids including THC, CBN, CBG aside from CBD, and any other organic matter. Because of this, pure unadulterated CBD should have no taste or smell.

This makes it a wonderfully versatile substance that can be used in edibles or oils without adding flavor but keeping its potency. A CBD isolate is great for someone who struggles with the original earthy flavors of other conventional oils or edibles and who wants a THC free product.

If a CBD isolate sounds like the right option for you, you can find the perfect CBD isolate here in purest form that can be mixed into shakes and food! Or try these products: gummiestinctures, lotionsroll onbath bombs made with CBD Isolate

WHAT IS CBD BROAD SPECTRUM?

Broad-spectrum CBD is actually another name for CBD distillate. It is CBD extract that retains all the original cannabinoids, terpenes, oils, vitamins, and flavonoids, but it goes through a special winterization process to remove THC. Broad-spectrum CBD, or CBD distillate, is practical for users wanting to reap the full-spectrum benefits without ingesting THC.

The sheer amount of people getting drug tested for work, probation, or organ transplantation makes broad-spectrum CBD a very practical and useful staple to provide in this evolving industry.

Broad Spectrum includes other cannabinoids such as:

CBDN: Is a mildly psychoactive cannabinoid. CDN has beed studied extensively as a helpful compound to improve sleep health.

CBD: Contains no psychoactive effects. That means you can use it for medical purposes without getting high. CBD can be transformed into oils, gummies, pills, creams, and more to suit various therapeutic needs.

CBG:  Is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. CBG is thought to kill or slow bacterial growth, reduce inflammation, inhibit cell growth in tumor/cancer cells, and promote bone growth.

CBC: Is known to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, inhibit cell growth in tumor/cancer cells, and promote bone growth.

CBDA: Blocks COX-2 enzymes helping to relieve inflammation and associated pain. CBDA can also affect the body’s 5-HT serotonin-producing receptors, hinting at a potential use as a medication for the chemotherapy-induced nausea/vomiting and other conditions that induce these symptoms.

WHAT IS CBD FULL SPECTRUM?

Full spectrum CBD contains all of the benefits of the whole plant without the high amounts of THC. Full spectrum CBD products are not as pure as a CBD isolate or broad-spectrum CBD distillate. Full spectrum CBD contains all the cannabinoids, terpenes, and plant materials, including the naturally occurring small amount of THC in hemp.

The terpenes and cannabinoids found in full-spectrum can be healthy and beneficial for the body but remember: CBD full-spectrum products usually has a much higher THC content which could make it illegal in some states; whereas a CBD isolate, distillate and broad spectrum contain no traceable amounts of THC.

The THC concentration in full-spectrum oils can even be much higher than the federal legal limit of THC, which in the US must be <0.3%. This all depends on the hemp strain selected for processing, the amount of THC this hemp strain has, and how diluted the CBD concentrate is in the carrier oil.

WHAT IS CBD DISTILLATE?

Distillate is a process of molecular distillation to refine into a superior product that is solvent free. Distillate can be broad spectrum or full spectrum CBD depending on the process used to refine and remediate THC.

HOW IS DISTILLATE MADE?

To isolate and distill the CBD, it has to go through several different refinement processes, starting with crude extraction. This requires the use of a solvent to remove cannabinoids from the plant matter.

Then it has to go through what is known as winterization. This requires the crude extract and solvent to be mixed and left in an extremely cold climate for 24-48 hours so it can congeal and separate.

The next step is decarboxylation. This is the heating of cannabis so it becomes “activated”—much like when someone lights up a joint. Finally, it gets distilled and is purified until it becomes a pure, isolated product.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT CBD PRODUCT FOR YOU

One of the most amazing things about CBD is that there are so many ways you can consume it. If you’re seeking relief, the products are many, but the administration methods are few. With CBD, however, you can eat, vape, or topically apply the product of your choice. But which product is the best one for you? Much of your time (and money) can be saved by keeping a few things in mind to help you purchase the right CBD product that will work best for you. WHAT ARE TERPENES?

Terpenes are essential oils found in plants that are responsible for smell and taste. Certain terpenes work on the CB1 and CB2 receptors which help to open the blood brain barrier. This allows for maximum absorption of CBD with added benefits. Terpenes are known to add to the entourage effects in our products.

HOW DOES CBD WORK WITH MY BODY?

The Endocannabinoid System

CBD works with the endocannabinoid system in your body.

What is the endocannabinoid system? It’s a biological system composed of fat based neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors. The CB1 and CB2 receptors were the first receptors discovered and are two of the most studied.

CB1 receptors are located mainly throughout the brain and central nervous system.

CB2 receptors are more concentrated throughout the peripheral organs, immune cells, and the gastrointestinal tract.

Endocannabinoid receptors in the body

The endocannabinoids produced in the body are chemical messengers. These messengers tell your body’s receptors to promote healing, or when to stop and help maintain a healthy balance. The body constantly seeks this balance called homeostasis.

CB1 work with: Motor Activity, Appetite, Motor Coordination, Immune Cells, Short Term Memory & Pain Perception

CB2 work with: Gut, Kidneys, Pancreas, Liver Skeletal Muscle, Bone, Eyes, Skin, Tumors, Reproductive System, Immune System, Respiratory Tract, & Cardiovascular System
