CBD: What Is It?

What is CBD?

One of the biggest buzzwords of 2019, CBD, can be found everywhere. It is being touted as the next big thing and can be found everywhere from your local grocery store to dedicated  retail shops. So it’s important stuff if it is being seen everywhere but what exactly is it?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound found in Hemp. It is a cannabinoid, naturally occurring and the main ingredient of the products being sold countrywide. It is most commonly found in the crystal-like trichomes on the flower of the hemp plant.

This biomass is then taken, and a  CBD rich oil is pulled from the plant and later refined into an isolate of just CBD.

How CBD helps

CBD aids the human body's  endocannabinoid system by helping to restore homeostasis. Our pets also have an endocannabinoid system like ours and why CBD with pets has become a big thing.

Synthetic CBD

A type of CBD that you must stay away from is synthetic CBD. This is a version of CBD that was created in a lab and not by mother nature. All reputable brands sell the natural version from Hemp. The companies to avoid the fear of synthetic CBD products are of those located in gas stations with no contact info if you can’t get ahold of the company that’s because they want it that way and please steer clear of these types of companies!

Other Cannabinoids

While CBD is the most prevalent cannabinoid right now, there are many other cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, such as THC (must be below 0.03%), CBG, CBN, and CBC. Much is not know about these cannabinoids, except for THC. Research is being done as we have only scratched the surface with this plant, and new and exciting information is revealed every day.
